I've wanted to learn how to knit for a couple of years now, but I haven't had the motivation to figure it out. A few weeks ago one of my favorite crafty blogs, Make It and Love It, started a Learn to Knit Mini-Series. It was just what I needed. I was in Bellingham visiting family, so I borrowed some of my mom's old knitting needles since she has super fancy new ones now. Unfortunately, I didn't get started while in Bellingham with my super-knitting mom. Since I didn't have anyone to answer my questions I just stumbled along with the tutorials. I made a few mistakes and started over a couple of times, but now I think I have it basically figured out. I can now make a washcloth, a scarf, or any other rectangular item that isn't too wide. I know, super impressive.
My washcloth!
To prove that I made lots of mistakes and still have a lot to learn, let's take a closer look:

I have to wait another week until the next tutorial is posted (next up, a washcloth using the purl stitch!) I'm planning to make another knit washcloth before then. The first one was fun and I obviously need more practice. Here's what I have so far:

Let's get together & knit...I'd be happy to answer any questions, too, since your mom's farther away! :)
You're doing great. The stitches are looking good on the 2nd one and I like the yarn.
Uhm, you're fabulous. I've been wanting to knit at some point in my life too, I'm going to have to check out that blog. I'm so proud you can do rectangle things!
