Before I had kids, I taught high school math. My former colleague retired this year. I was able to attend a dinner last week and a dessert reception at the school this afternoon in her honor. It was so fun to see my friends and also kind of weird to hear about the teaching world that I'm no longer a part of.

I do miss some aspects of teaching, but I am so grateful that I am able to stay home with my girls. There is no place I'd rather be and no place where I can make a greater impact.
