School's out for summer
School is out... and nothing has changed for me. All of my teacher friends had to go to work today to clean their classrooms, input grades, and check out. I cleaned the house and played with the baby. Last year my mom came to school to help me get ready for the summer and then we went baby shopping. Now Kaylin is taking a nap in the crib we picked out that day. Things sure have changed. We have quite a few neighborhood kids running around now that they're out of school. I wonder if they can see through my living room window from their backyard fort? If so, they're going to see a lot more than they bargained for because that's where I feed the baby! Hopefully I don't get an upset mom at my door yelling at me for exposing my chest to 10 year old boys. But hey, it's my house, they don't need to look :-).

After a few days of thinking the parents in my neighborhood are completely irresponsible for letting their kids stay home and play all day long, it occurred to me that school was out here, too. Weird.
When I was a young mom, I liked to sit in front of my big sliding glass door to feed...ahem...jen's joe...it was a new house and there was only a vast cornfield behind the house...and we had a covered patio right outside the sliding door. Imagine my surprize one day for me to see neighborhood kids walking RIGHT BY ME under our patio awning?! Next time I saw them I told them they were welcome to walk through the yard along the back of the property or certainly through our front yard, but that the patio was not their sidewalk! After another baby, we fenced in the backyard...still...I thought buying a house was buying privacy! I wouldn't think you should get complaints about what you do in your own home! good luck!
