Easter

We had a fun and busy Easter. Eric's sister, her husband, and her husband's brother were here and that was a lot of fun. Since we now live 10 minutes from Eric's parents, we were able to see them Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Our Easter started with Kaylin getting her Easter basket, you can see more pictures on her website. Her eggs were filled with gold fish crackers, lucky girl.

Then we drove to Marysville to go to church there. A friend of ours was being confirmed a member of the church and asked Eric to perform the confirmation. After the meeting we drove straight to Eric's parents' church building for their meeting. After church we had dinner at Eric's parents'. Here is a picture of the cake I made:


Eric's brother is growing a mustache. It started as a joke (I think) while he was at home from work for a couple of weeks after having knee surgery. Apparently he must be starting to really like it because he hasn't shaved it off. Eric's mom and sister convinced me to make a mustache for the bunny cake. Here is the bunny Chris cake:

Kaylin got two jellybeans during the Easter egg hunt. She loved them. There are more pictures on her site.

March for Babies

Here we are with Brandon, Laura, and Carter Green on the 4th of July at the Seattle Police Department dock on Lake Union

Once again, we are participating in the March of Dimes' annual March for Babies. We do this in memory of AnnaLee McKenzie who is the daughter of our dear friends Brandon and Laura Green. She was born 4 months premature. In nearly half the cases, the causes of premature birth are unknown. The March of Dimes is leading the way to find answers by supporting research into the causes of premature birth. Our hope is that we can help make a difference for families in the future. This walk has been a way for us to support our friends and remember AnnaLee each year, as it falls just before her birthday.

In other news, my back is KILLING me. I've barely been able to do anything since Sunday afternoon. I don't know what happened. Luckily we got the house picked up on Saturday so I've been able to sit on the couch most of the day. It's not the most exciting thing, but at least I don't feel too guilty about not cleaning the house. It's a good thing that all of the boxes that need to be unpacked are in the garage so I don't have to look at them. If I could see the boxes, then I'd be feeling stressed. But, as the saying goes, out of sight, out of mind. I think Kaylin can sense my pain because she keeps wanting me to pick her up, yeah, that's great for my back. I have an appointment with the doctor on Thursday morning. I really dislike going to the doctor, but this pain cannot persist. It doesn't even go away when I take tylenol and ibuprofen at the same time. Ugh.

Countdown to APRIL 3

If you LOVE The Office like me, you'll be ecstatic to hear that NEW episodes will air beginning on April 3. I saw a commercial on tv this afternoon and I couldn't be happier. We've had fun watching reruns on dvd nearly every night, but I am so looking forward to something new. I can hardly wait!
***I just checked the website and now it says April 10. Earlier today it said the 3rd. Hmmmm...

As a reminder, here is what our kitchen looks like:

Casualty #2: Mattress

Overall the move went really well. It was so nice having the movers bring everything in the house and to the appropriate room (for the most part). They even put our bed, crib, etc. back together for us. But our super comfortable, pillow top, queen size mattress somehow got wet while in the moving truck overnight. The movers have no idea how it happened. Nothing else was wet, just the mattress. The Wells Fargo insurance claim people have been more than fabulous. They immediately approved us to go out and purchase a new mattress and also an aero bed to sleep on until our new mattress is delivered. So the good part is that we now have a nice air bed that inflates in less than 3 minutes and deflates in 1. We've now slept two nights on the air bed and with a foam pad on top, it's really not that bad. I will be happy to have my new mattress this weekend, though. We lost a lot of unpacking time due to the mattress situation, but we've been able to get quite a bit done. My parents, sister, and niece came yesterday. My dad was a huge help with putting up blinds and other manly things. My mom and sister helped unpack a bunch of boxes and get Kaylin's room ready to go. It was great. Today we get to go to our new ward. That should be interesting.

We had to go to Macy's to look at new mattresses since that's where are ruined one was purchased. Since we were down there we picked up our two new chairs from their warehouse that is close to their store. We were supposed to pick them up on Friday or Saturday, so that worked out pretty well for us.

The movers showed up a little over an hour late. Apparently there's a lot of construction on the freeway and they were stuck in traffic. It took them about 7 hours to pack and load all of our stuff. We were originally told that they were just packing today, so we were planning on spending the night at our house so we could be there in the morning to let the movers in. But since they were out of our house by 5, we decided to spend the night at Eric's parents' house since they live 10 minutes from our new place. I cleaned the house for about 45 minutes and then we went to a friend's house for dinner. I'd already done a lot of cleaning so all I had to do was wipe out the cabinets, vacuum, and mop. Kaylin loved running around the empty house. I don't have any pictures yet because I'm at my in-laws' and there's no memory card slot in their computer. I don't really have any good pictures anyway, I think all I have is some of our bedroom in boxes. The movers will be at our house tomorrow around 9. And then the unpacking begins. Wish us luck!

Oh yeah, the "careful movers" (as it says on all of their boxes) broke one of the lamps in our living room. Nice.

Move out day

Well, the movers are an hour late. Nice. But the guy that disconnected the washer and dryer was 15 minutes early. My ploy to wash our towels so the movers wouldn't pack dirty ones was semi-thwarted. I now have clean but wet towels. My car is loaded with the essentials, my dishes are done, the garbages and recycling are emptied, now I'm just holding my clingy baby. I think Kaylin knows something is up. She has been crying every time I set her down. It's going to be an interesting day.

The movers are coming!

The movers will be here tomorrow morning at 8. I don't know quite what to expect. I set some things aside to put in the car while they are here so they won't pack them. I'll be putting our air mattress and pump, pillows, Kaylin's pack 'n play, clothes and food for Kaylin, clothes for us for Friday and some other stuff in the car. I'm supposed to be at the house while they are here. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Kaylin. I'm planning to take her to a friend's house for her nap. Other than that I guess I'll be carrying her around or trying to get her to play in a room where she's not in the way of the movers.

Tonight was our youth lip sync night. I believe I successfully made a fool of myself :-). It was a lot of fun. We (the young women leaders) lip synced to Hold the Line by Toto. I hadn't heard of it until a couple of weeks ago. It was lovely. A great way to leave the ward. Ha!

I'll let you know how the moving goes. I can't believe we will only be in this house for two more nights.
