Boating on Lake Washington and Lake Union

My parents brought their boat down at the end of August. It wasn't warm enough to get in the water, but we had a great time driving down Lake Washington, through the cut to Lake Union, and then back.

Seahawks' Practice Facility. Lucky guys.

The bridge was going up for that sailboat.

We docked the boat at this Ivar's on Lake Union. Yum! I love their fish and chips!

Our view at lunch, you can see the Space Needle in the background.

We love Seattle!

Kaylin modeling my dad's boating glasses--I think they are from Taco Ball forever ago. Do you see the visors over the lenses? Awesome.

We were on the water for hours and had such a fun time. It was a lot of fun to see the cities from the water, eat yummy food, and hang out with my parents.

Lauren is 9 months old

It's hard to believe, but Lauren is 3/4 of a year old!

I don't have any pictures of her alone, but I did get some of her and Kaylin yesterday. Kaylin wanted to hold Lauren and they were both happy, so it was a good time to get some pictures of them.

Lauren's funny scrunched up face smile.
And yes, in case you were wondering, that is Kaylin's "red" dress.

A better view of Lauren's two bottom teeth.

She's done.

Lauren is crawling everywhere. I finally broke down and bought a baby gate to keep her in our kitchen and family room and away from the stairs (her favorite) and the rest of the downstairs. It was getting too hard to keep an eye on her while making dinner or doing anything else for that matter. She makes a beeline for the stairs whenever she can.

She is starting to cruise along furniture and go between furniture pieces if they are close enough to each other. She can pull herself up on low furniture and is obsessed with our little Ikea stool.

She stole one of Kaylin's baby dolls and loves it. I think she likes it because they are twins--white, blue eyes, and bald.

She is eating solid food three times a day and loves to feed herself cheerios, most of them even make it into her mouth now.

She still adores her sister and follows her around whenever possible.

She likes to crawl while holding something--preferably a piece of toy food like a carrot, lettuce leaf, or eggplant.

Lauren is super happy and smiley and I can't get enough of her!

First Day of Preschool

We're doing an at home preschool with 4 other kids/moms. Today was the first day. Kaylin has been looking forward to preschool ever since she heard about it. She wanted her picture with Daddy before he left for work this morning:

Kaylin picked out her own outfit, including a hairbow which she RARELY will wear, and surprisingly it all matched. I was shocked that she didn't want to wear her "red" dress. Yesterday she told me that's what she was going to wear to preschool today, and since she wears it pretty much everyday, I believed her. This morning when it was time to get dressed she didn't even mention the dress. Weird.

I nearly cried driving away from my friend's house this morning. Kaylin went right in and didn't look back. She is getting too big! I'll be a wreck when kindergarten starts. At least I have two more years until then.

***I was surprised to realize while looking for a link to a picture of Kaylin's "red" dress, that Kaylin has been wearing it nearly every day for over three months. Crazy.
