Goodbye Marysville house!

Our house in Marysville is officially no longer our house. Our relocation company took possession of it today and the new owners are supposed to close on May 15. I am happy but I am also very sad. I am happy because now we own ONE house. I am sad because I have so many wonderful memories in our Marysville house. We only lived there for 3.5 years, but a lot happened during that time. We moved in only 9 months after we were married, so most of our married life has been in that house. Kaylin was born while we lived in that house. That is where she learned to roll over, to crawl, and to walk. We made some really good friends while living there that I miss not living near. But now we are truly in the next chapter of our life. The Marysville house is no longer ours so there is nothing tying us to Marysville anymore, well, except for some friends. We loved living in Marysville and will miss it, but we are happy to be in a new place, meeting new people, learning a new city, and having new adventures.

March for Babies

Yesterday we participated in the March for Babies in Everett. The weather was perfect, maybe even a little too sunny because Kaylin got a little sunburned on her face. I didn't even think to bring sunscreen! We've had nothing but rain and overcast days for weeks, I'm not used to the sun yet! But we had a great time. It was fun to see all of our friends who were also participating and to see the outpouring of support from the community and sponsors. Thank you to everyone who donated money. We really appreciate your support in raising awareness and in helping to fight premature birth. You guys are the best!

Tagged by Nicole

Rules of this Tag:

1. Answer the questions about the list of friends and/or family on your blog.
2. If you don’t have 18 names answer the question about the next name that you have not had a question for on your list.
3. Tag 5 people.

 When did you first meet the first person on your list?
April: I met April at church, I think I was in high school but I might have been in middle school.

 What do you like about the third person on your list's blog?
Kristina: I like all of the cute pictures and fun stories.

 What do you like best about the fifth and sixth people on your list?
Amy: She tries hard to be healthy and to feed her kids good food (even if she has to sneak it into their brownies!)
Christen: She has such a good attitude about her husband (my cousin) being gone so much for work and school.

 How long have you known the ninth person on your list?
Jen J: I have known Jen since our freshman year at BYU which was the fall of 1999.

 What impresses you about the eleventh and twelfth people on your list?
Kelsey: She is so good with little kids and is a fabulous mom. She is really good about exercising.
My number 12 person is actually Kelsey's other site, so I'll go with my number 13 person which is Ken. Ken is super smart and a really good friend, even though I don't see him much anymore :-(.

 What is a memory you have with the sixteenth person on your list?
Funny, Nicole tagged me and I was 16th on her list too. I loved going to quilt class with Nicole. It was fun to ride together to class and to have her show me how to quilt.

 Say something nice about the eighteenth person on your list.
Susan: She is always so happy and friendly. And she means it.

 Tag five people: Kelsey, Kim, Kristina, April, and Rachel

And by the time you guys read this my list will be different than what I wrote this from. I just realized that I left two of my friends off my list!

New Furniture

Our chair and a half with ottoman and leather ottoman finally came this Friday, which is a completely different topic in itself. I figured that I'd better put some pictures up of the furniture and bedding that we've bought over the past month and a half. We still need things on the walls, especially in the living room, dining room, and family room. We also need some lamps for those rooms.

The bedroom isn't finished yet either. We need new sheets, a few throw pillows, and new nightstands. We also need some stuff for the walls. My current plan is to get brown sheets and an extra brown fitted sheet to cover the box spring. We want to print and frame a black and white photo of Eric, Kaylin, and my feet from when she was first born to put on the wall. We'd also like to put a mirror over the dresser.

So check out my slide show and let me know what you think so far or what ideas you might have for me.

New calling at church

After Eric's basketball game on Thursday night the Bishop (who also plays on the team) came up and asked if he could talk to me on Sunday before church. I was thinking that I was possibly going to get a calling, but he talked to Eric a few Sundays ago and just asked him if he'd be willing to accept a calling if they had one for him. So I thought it could be that. But no, he had a calling for me. A calling like none I've ever received. I am the new Enrichment Counselor in the Relief Society Presidency. Is anyone scared??? I think it will be a lot of fun and I'm excited to get to know the sisters in the ward. Right now I can name only a handful of people in our ward. The last time I was in Relief Society for a significant amount of time was at BYU. Since then I've had a couple stints of a few months, but then I get a calling that requires me to be somewhere else during RS. It will be fun to be in RS for awhile. I have pretty much NO CLUE what I'll be doing, but it'll be great :-).

Check out what I made

I made this super cute clutch for my friend's birthday. I wanted to get her something small but I didn't really have any ideas. I looked for things when I was out running errands yesterday, but nothing jumped out at me. Then I randomly happened upon a blog that had directions to make this clutch. I thought it was so cute and knew that I had to make one. After dinner I left Kaylin home with Eric (a rare treat) and ran to JoAnn's. I finished it this morning before Kaylin woke up. I don't think the pictures do it justice, but oh well.

If you want to make one too I think the directions aren't clear at all at step 5 (even incorrect in my opinion). And some of the other directions might be confusing if you haven't made stuff like this before. If you do want to make one and get confused let me know and I'll try to clarify the directions for you.

I'm 99% sure Laura doesn't read my blog, so hopefully she doesn't see these pictures until after Friday :-).

Purse Pal Giveaway

Crazymamaof6 is hosting a giveaway for a free purse pal. My mom has one of these and has been buying them for her friends for their birthdays. I wouldn't mind having one to keep my purse off of the yucky floor, but it's not really something I want to spend money on. So maybe I'll win this giveaway. Or maybe you will. There will be 3 winners. The fine print is that you have to have a blog and you have to link back to crazymama's blog. Not too tough. Good luck ladies!

Tagged by Kelsey

Kelsey tagged me at the end of February and I just got tagged on another one today so I figured I'd better do Kelsey's first. Here we go...

How did you meet your spouse? We met at a Western Washington University ward family home evening. Eric was just back from his mission and getting ready to start his last year of school and I had just graduated from BYU.

Where did you go on your first date? A miniature golf place in Birch Bay and then back to his apartment for frozen pizza b/c all the food places were closed. (I should have realized then how much frozen pizza I'd be eating in the years to come...)

How long have you been together? We started dating in June of 2003, so we've been together for almost 5 years.

Who eats more? That would be Eric, no question.

Who said I love you first? Unfortunately that would be me.

Who is smarter? Depends on who you ask. Well, no, we'd both say me. I guess I'm more school smart but Eric knows a lot about financial stuff, church stuff, and sports.

Who does the laundry? Always me. There's no way I'm letting Eric unintentionally ruin my clothes.

Who does the dishes? Me again.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Is that facing the bed? Then it's Eric. But if you're lying in bed it's me.

Who pays the bills? Thankfully Eric.

Who mows the lawn? Even more thankfully, that would be Eric again. He pretty much does all yard work. I do pull a few weeds and trim a few bushes now and then.

Who cooks dinner? Always me. Eric doesn't cook, unless you count making frozen pizza. Sometimes he'll make chocolate chip cookies.

Who drives when you are together? Eric. I really don't like to drive very much, especially not in lots of traffic when it's dark outside.

Who is more stubborn? Eric.

Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? I think we both do a pretty good job of that, but it's usually me.

Whose parents do you see the most? Now that we live 10 minutes from Eric's parents and nearly 2 hours from mine, we see Eric's parents a lot more often.

Who kissed who first? Eric kissed me first. There's no way I'd kiss first, are you kidding me??

Who proposed? Of course that would be Eric.

Who is more sensitive? Me, hands down.

Who has more friends? Definitely me.

Who has more siblings? We have the same. We each have one sister and one brother.

Who wears the pants in the family? I only wear pants 6 days a week and Eric wears them 7, so I'll go with Eric :-).

Now I'm supposed to tag people. Let's see... I'll tag Becca, Nicole, Rachel, April, and Kristina since I don't know all of your stories all that well :-).

Trick or Treat?

When I went downstairs this morning here is what I found in the FRUIT bowl:

So instead of apples, oranges, and bananas, I have Butterfingers, Reeses peanut butter cups, York peppermint patties and who knows what else. Eric had a booth at the career fair at Seattle University yesterday. Apparently not enough people came by his booth because he had way too much leftover candy. I'm not much of a candy person, just ask my sister and brother who would get mad at me for throwing my Halloween candy away when I still had it a year later. But I am a sucker for chocolate cake for breakfast. Here was my breakfast this morning:

I'd like to thank Jen for the fabulous recipe. This also reminds me of the Bill Cosby sketch about having chocolate cake for breakfast. It has flour, eggs, and milk, so it must be good for breakfast. Yum.

And The Office is on tonight!!!! I am so excited. If you are in the Seattle area and want to come over to watch The Office with us, we'll let you eat your fill of candy and you might even get to share the last piece of chocolate cake with me.

My baby is growing up

Apparently my 15 month old thinks she's an adult. Here she is reading the Cheerios box. She's probably trying to figure out how she can lower her cholesterol 4% in 6 weeks like they promise on the commercial. Now she's rocking her baby while checking on the dinner cooking in the oven.

Maybe she'll start using the toilet, dressing herself, and cleaning up her toys soon. I won't hold my breath.

I heart Jim Halpert

Last night I had a dream that I was starting to date Jim Halpert. Not John Krasinski the actor, but Jim Halpert the fictional character from The Office. I think last night's Office marathon had something to do with it. Who knew they were going to show 4 episodes in a row? I had to watch all 4 of course. Besides, Eric had a late basketball game and Kaylin was in bed (which is why we didn't go to the game), so what else was I supposed to do??

Anyway... in my dream I don't think I was married to Eric, but Kaylin was around sometimes so who knows where she came from. And I've had dating Jim dreams before. We own seasons 1-3 on dvd and used to watch at least one episode a night. I don't even think he's all that cute! Well, sometimes I think he's cute but then other times I just think he's goofy looking. But his character is so sweet and I just love him. Hmmmm.... I know Eric reads my blog sometimes... Oh well.

Just thought I'd share my psychosis with all of you :-). Only one week until new episodes of The Office and *sigh* more Jim Halpert.

Our crazy weather

On Saturday we had snow.

On Monday we had hail. Hail that looked like snow. Cars were covered in hail driving down streets where you couldn't see the lane lines because of the hail on the road. Eric was at the opening day of the Mariners, luckily the roof closes.

On Tuesday it was sunny at we went on a walk to the park. Kaylin got to go in a swing for the first time and she loved it. She wasn't so sure about the slide, though.

Hopefully the weather will just stay nice now. No more snow in the spring please!
